The
sixth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM 6) was held in Helsinki, Finland on 10-11 September
2006. Under the overarching theme of '10 years of ASEM: Global Challenges-Joint
Responses', the meeting discussed multilateralism and regional development, globalization
and competitiveness, energy and climate change, dialogue among cultures and civilizations
and the future development of ASEM. The meeting issued the Chairman's
Statement, the Helsinki Declaration on the Future of ASEM, and the ASEM6
Declaration on Climate Change.
